I was saddened and shocked to read of John's passing, and extend my condolences to his wife and sons. I worked at State Street and reported to John for several years before I retired. There is little I can say that hasn't been said here. He was class, style, intelligence, confidence, patience and trust - and one of the best to work with. He was the picture of health, and if he was being treated for anything, I never knew it. He deserved more time relaxing in retirement. May he rest in peace.

My grandfather, John R Towers, told me to take care of a statue of two Indian men playing lacrosse, while he moved back down to Florida. At that moment I felt a few things, happy, trusted, and pride. Most importantly pride, he made me feel proud. Proud to be his granddaughter, proud to be a part of his family. I will carry that sense of pride with me everywhere, and a little piece of him too. We love you and miss you.
Love you millions,
Indigo Towers

In 1959 our prescient HS classmates voted John "the most versatile" guy among the graduating seniors. I appreciated his mordant wit, his incisive mind, and his kindness.
