I met Johnny Pesky in 1973 at the Home Plate Concession Stand at Fenway. He was taking a break from his broadcasting of the game. I was taking broadcasting classes at the time and said to him "Mr. Pesky, I'm after your job". He laughed and said, "Young man, you can have it!" He was only kidding. He stayed and talked with me for quite a while, and I never forgot it.

It was great seeing Johnny Pesky celebrate two World Series wins with the Red Sox in 2004 and 2007. Nobody seemed to have enoyed it more. The Red Sox could not have had a better ambassador than him. Rest in peace Johnny.

Thank you for being the anchor of the Red Sox all these years. A class act in life and a Red Sox legend forever. Godspeed Johnny.
