Pat,
Thank you so much for getting me through so many night editing gigs with my sanity intact and thank you also for greeting me so incredibly warmly when I came see you 25 years later at my reunion.
What do I remember: Your jet-black hair and wise-apple smile, you handing me the tray of lead which held my first story, your incredible blend of intelligence and humor, and you so very often coming up the back stairs to tell me at that rickety semicircular yellow night editing desk, "Well, Day, it's 11:30, and Fallows would be done by now. "What's wrong with you?" "Step on it, will ya!"
Most of all, though, you were the only real grownup among us, teaching real life lessons to a bunch of kids who thought they knew everything and showing us how a grounded, responsible adult behaves. Thank you, Pat.

I am so very sorry to learn of the loss of our dear Pat. I want to extend my sincere condolences to the entire Sorrento family. I have many cherished memories of the nights I spent downstairs at the Crimson with Pat. He gave me a lot of good advice when I needed it, not just about how to put the paper together but about how to live. Of course, we shared many laughs together. Pat was a dear friend, and I knew he always had my best interests at heart. Thank you so much for allowing Pat to share his time with me and the countless other students that he supported over the years. I think of Pat often, and I will continue to do so always--each time with a smile. ACK '83 Andrew C. Karp

At the Crimson Pat Sorrento combined grit, grace and skill to keep in line a gaggle of overachieving know-it-alls. Of course, he knew A LOT more than we did. The process through which we grew to respect and love him contributed more than any college course to our development into educated men and women. To Pat's family, sincere wishes for a soft place to land in your grief. To his friends, let's reflect the best of this fine man in all we do.
