COUTO, Luisa de Jesus (Tavares) Of Weymouth, November 20, 2017, at age 90, formerly of Cambridge. Devoted wife of the late José Rodrigues do Couto. Loving mother of Salvador Couto and his wife Maria, Eduarda Santos and her husband Victor, Deodata Pascoal and her husband Carlos, Teresinha Medeiros and her husband Gabriel, and the late Manuela Teixeira and her late husband Franklin. Cherished grandmother of Elsie Teixeira, Sandy Peters, Ricky Santos, Carlos Pascoal, Michael Medeiros, Brian Santos, Salvi Couto and Frankie Teixeira. Luisa is survived by 10 adored great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends. Luisa Couto left her hometown of Ribeira Grande in Sao Miguel, Azores in 1976 and settled in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to unite with the rest of her family that had already migrated to the United States. She then started a job at NECCO Chocolate Factory. After retirement, Luisa moved to Wilmington, MA for a few years and eventually south to Weymouth. She enjoyed visiting her homeland, traveling on cruises and visiting Florida, with family. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them. Luisa was deeply devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she spoiled with unconditional love and happiness. She had an amazing personality, laugh and smile that would light up any room she was in. Luisa will be missed by all of her family, friends and all of those who were lucky to know her. Funeral from the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge St., CAMBRIDGE, on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 8:00 am. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue in Cambridge at 9:00 am. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please honor Luisa by making donations in her memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
