While studying Persian at Harvard University, I had the good fortune to meet Professor Frye. He came to my home on several occasions to enjoy Persian dinners prepared by my wife Badri. In Shiraz, Iran, I joined him for dinner at his home. Professor Frye's love of Iran and his knowledge of Iranian history and of ancient Iranian languages should be an inspiration to everyone.

Prof. Frye most kind to me over my years as then owner of Asian Rare Books in NYC. Later invited me to his office in Semitic Museum and allowed me to purchase few items of Aurel Stein, etc. Just read his obit here in Manila via the International NYT. Such a valuable life.

Dear Mrs. Frye:
On behalf of Iranian Americans, Iranians (Persians) and the Committee of Iranians of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, let me first of all, express my heartfelt deepest condolences for the passing of your late husband, Professor Richard Frye.
The Iranians and Persian speaking are aware of the most excellent work performed by your late husband on behalf of Iranian (Persian) culture, history, and civilization. Your husband's achievements in all aspects of Persians culture and civilization are truly legendary and exemplary. As Iranians (Persians), we feel specially fortunate to have enjoyed the honor of the dedication of your husband's knowledge, skill, talent, and devotion to our country's culture and civilization. Professor Frye's lifetime devotion and dedication to our country deserve the highest praise and deepest thanks.
We join you in your time of grief and trust that you will find comfort in the knowledge that your husband's work will be forever appreciated and admired.
Very truly yours,

Hooshang Jabbari
