Uncle Bob was my uncle. He was as genuine a person as you will ever meet. He always made you feel like you were the most important person around. I particularly saw this in the way he treated my 3 daughters. He always met them at their "level"...meaning no matter how old they were, he always knew the question to ask, the thing to say to make them feel like they were special. Whenever I would say we were going to see Uncle Bob, or when I would talk about him, they would always say in unison....we love Uncle Bob. The poem by van dyke is appropriate at this time of loss....I paraphrase...as he gets on the big sail boat, with the beautiful white sails and heads out to sea, the people on shore are saying there he goes, but as he goes over the horizon, those on the other side are saying, here he comes. Of course, Uncle Bob is not just a passenger, he has taken the helm. Rest in peace Uncle Bob, we will always remember you, and try to live to your standards.
