WILCHER, Ruby Louise
81, of Mattapan, MA, August 26, 2011. Born to Janie and Johnson Jenkins in Spartanburg, SC, on April 28, 1930. Loving widow of jazz musician James S. Wilcher, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Wilcher was a graduate of Carver High School in Spartanburg and received an Associate of Arts Degree from Roxbury Community College in Boston. She worked as a coil winder and inspector for Raytheon, Co. where she retired in 1997. "Miss Ruby" was very active in the Bay State Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of Concord Baptist Church. In addition to her daughter Shirley J. Wilcher, Mrs. Wilcher leaves a nephew, David O'Bryant; niece, Althea Smith; cousins, grand-nieces and nephews and many devoted friends and associates. Visitors may call between the hours of 10:00 AM-11:00 AM on Thursday, September 1st at Concord Baptist Church, 190 Warren Ave., Boston, MA 02116. Eastern Star Service 11:00 AM. Funeral will follow at 11:30 AM. Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mattapan. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Ruby L.
