There he would also contribute as a freshmen football coach, golf coach, and math teacher. He also enjoyed playing golf, traveling with his wife and family, and spending time with his seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, earning the name, "Pops". In recent years, he and Nancy moved to the Seattle area to be closer to several family members, eventually living with daughter, Susan. Charles is preceded in death by his eldest son, Scott; his parents Denny and Bertha; and his three older sisters, Virginia, Billie, and Mina.
