Frank Cosentino Obituary

Frank Cosentino of Sarasota, FL formerly of Valhalla, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2013. He was born in Valhalla and had just celebrated his 92nd birthday in November. His parents were the late Conchetta and Angelo Cosentino. Frank is survived by his daughter, Paulette R. Parent of Sarasota, FL; and his son Frank E. Cosentino and Mary Autorino of Poughkeepsie, NY. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruth M. Cosentino. Also surviving are his sister, Clara and brother-in-law Anthony Verano of W. Harrison, NY; and sister-in-law, Jean Cosentino of DeBary, FL, and a nephew and nieces. A brother, Louis Cosentino; and sisters, Camille Christensen Carlow, and Edith, and brother-in-law Joseph Rose also predeceased him. Frank was retired from Westchester Colprovia Inc., Bedford, NY where he worked for 42 years as a truck driver and in plant maintenance. He was a member of Teamsters Union 456, Elmsford, NY. In the true spirit of volunteerism and service to his life-long community, Frank was a 60-year member of Valhalla Fire Co. #1 and served as the Department Chief twice. He was also a Peace Officer with the Town of Mt. Pleasant Auxiliary Police. One of his proudest accomplishments was serving as Troop Leader of Valhalla Boy Scout Troop 1 for 12 years. The troop consisted of 75 boys who later became valuable members of their community. Frank was a member of Hiawatha Masonic Lodge #0434, Pleasantville, NY and Mid-Westchester Elks Lodge #535, White Plains, NY. In Florida, Frank was a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates Booster Club for 20 years. He enjoyed helping with security during the Pirates Spring Training at McKechnie Field and Pirate City in Bradenton, FL. An 11:00 viewing and 12:00 service will take place on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave. E, Bradenton, FL 34203. A private interment will take place at a later date.
