FARMERS VALLEY - Roger N. Rice, 67, of Coleville Road, passed away Monday (Aug. 5, 2013) at his residence following an apparent heart attack.
Born Oct. 19, 1945, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Donald and Ruby Shields Rice. On Oct. 22, 1966, in the Eldred United Methodist Church, he married Jean Ann Kelley, who passed away Feb. 17, 2013.
Roger was a 1963 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School. He had resided in Coryville and on Coleville Road his entire life.
Mr. Rice had served with the Army National Guard. He was employed by Pierce Glass, which later became Saint-Gobain, for 43 years, retiring as a line mechanic in 2008.
Roger was a member of the McKean County Beagle Club. He enjoyed raising AKC registered beagles for many years. He loved all hunting, especially turkey hunting. He loved following his grandchildren's sporting events and was an avid NASCAR and local dirt track fan.
Surviving are one son, Todd (Jodi) Rice of Smethport; two daughters, Lori (Joe Ezzolo) Rice of Duke Center, and Kelley (Jim) Taggart of Coryville; 11 grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle, Amanda, Kiyah, Alicia, Jordyn, Bailley, Amy, Megann, Brittany and Broc; two brothers, Don (Donna) Rice of Duke Center and Richard Rice of Kent Hollow, Coryville. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Imogene Kelley of Eldred.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Rice-Baber in 2005.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Gary Sheesley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Farmers Valley.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

I am sorry I didn't get to know Roger better. I heard wonderful things about him. It would have been my pleasure to have had that opportunity. Love to the family!
