Alex also did an excellent portrayal of Mr. Brumbaugh in the mini-series "Centennial" taken directly from James A. Michener's book "Centennial." ..an awesome gentleman also. Charlie ...in the pines...

i too grew up in Gary In. and wanted to be just like Mr. Karras , played againsthis old high school Emerson vs Horace Mann , those where the good days and then meeting Mr. Karras at a lunchin ,was the best day of my life . may god take you and may you rest in peace .

I grew up in Detroit and Alex Karras was always my favorite Lion. His high level of play and sense of humor were fascinating. I will always love his role as Mongo in Blazing Saddles, one of my favorite movies. He was a truly talented person and the world is a lesser place without him.
