Mr. Mitchell is deserving of our admiration for his vision, design, and implementation of The Woodlands. As Woodlands residents since 1981, we are the beneficiaries of his genius. Many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell for their contributions to Texas and the world. Our sincere condolences to the Mitchell family and loved ones.

My heart goes out to Mr. Mitchell's family and my thoughts and prayers are with you. I am truly blessed to have known and worked for Mr. Mitchell. Upon arriving in Houston in 1981, fresh out of college and looking to start my career, a friend told me of Mr. Mitchell and his "new" Woodlands community. He sounded like a man I could trust and believe in. Mr. Mitchell gave me my first job and I worked for him and his Mitchell Energy "family" for the next 22 years, until the sale of MEDC to Devon. I will always be grateful to Mr. Mitchell for that opportunity. He was a man I greatly admired for his unrelenting determination and for the visionary he was. His foresight was incredible and his ability to make his visions and dreams come true still amaze me today. He will be truly missed. What a great and wonderful man!

My condolences to the Mitchell Family, and a special message to Sheridan. Mrs. Lorenz, I was the Limo Driver who took you and your parents to the 30th Anniversary Gala for the Woodlands honoring your parents. It was a real pleasure to get to meet you and Mother and Father. Let me just say that I'm sure that if you look up at the stars at night he will definitely be looking down at you and the other family members. He was truly a great person for our community and our world. We will all miss him. Sincerely, Dale R. Miller

The obituary is a beautiful, heartfelt story of a special human being. I never met him, but I feel like I know him. I am only one of the thousands of fellow Aggies who know his name and his legend, but I am proud to be associated with him in even such a small, distant way. My condolences to the family, having lost my own father last week, I truly feel your pain. I pray you soon find the comfort that comes from knowing his life was so magnificently lived, and you are blessed to be part of his legacy.
