I remember my first job after leaving the Navy in 1980 was a security guard at EAA. Just prior to the convention we had a meeting and "Pope Paul" came in and spoke to the group. This job eventually lead me into my current career as a security professional. Nine years later I was working at Oshkosh Truck as a security guard when Mr. Poberezny buzzed the guard shack during his approach to the runway at Wittman Field. I learned then that this was an almost weekly occurrence on Saturdays and I loved to watch him fly over. Mr. Poberezny seemed like a regular guy who had time for the little people.

I met him for 5 min at Airventure 2006 and he acted like he had known me for years. Me a nobody, he a legend, but it didn't matter. I walked away thinking what a nice man that guy is. I am sorry he's gone but he had a great life and was very well loved by many. I am happy for him.

Take comfort in the promise God gives us, that one day,
no resident will say "I am sick" but all can look forward
to the opportunity to live forever. (John 17:3)
