Steve Davis, a great example of what OKLAHOMANs are all about. Thanks, Steve Davis, for being a great role model to fellow Oklahomans who watched, listened and learned by your life example and witness.

I grew up across the highway from Steve's family in Sallisaw. I was some years younger and my Dad was a Black Diamond fan who followed Steve's progress to O.U. We had season tickets to see his glory days in the National Championships. I still remember those days fondly. I saw Steve at Panera Bread last fall and told him who I was and the first words out of his mouth were your Dad was a "huge" Black Diamond Booster. My most sincere, heartfelt condolences to the Davis Family.

I only had a short one sided conversation with Steve Davis on a high school football field in Stilwell, Oklahoma. He helped me up of the ground and told me "God bless you". I hope to have another one some day. I will never forget how Steve impressed me that night at the age of 17.
