Alice Martha Black

CRESTLINE: Alice Martha Black, 85, of Crestline, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Mill Creek, Galion after a short illness.

Alice was born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 6, 1928 to the late Henry and Mildred (Yockel) West. She married William Black on July 31, 1943 and he preceded her in death in September 1998.

Alice was retired from Geauga Plastic. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline and a member of the former Harmony Chapter #43 of the Order of Eastern Star, Crestline. She enjoyed watching soap operas and QVC.

She is survived by her sister Virginia Bland of Crestline, her brother Ralph (Christine) West of Ontario, her sister-in-law Marge West of Hilton Head, SC, her nieces Tammy Loudermilk and Gina Crawford both of Crestline her nephew Mark (Debra) Bland of Crestline and her best friend Joyce Shade of Crestline.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Karla Vanzant, her brother Harold West and her sister June Smith.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline is honored to serve the family of Alice Black.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Crawford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
