Edgar PEARD Obituary

PEARD - Edgar L. February 5, 2017, age 85, of Williamsville, after a long illness; beloved husband of 54 years to Joan (nee Deck) Peard. Ed grew up in Kenmore and graduated from Kenmore Senior High School. He attended the University of Buffalo for his Bachelor's and Master's degrees and additional post graduate studies, and he was a graduate of the Catholic Biblical School. Following graduation Ed pursued a career in business but was soon drawn to education. Ed was an English teacher at Seneca Vocational High School for over 30 years, and as a teacher he shared his love of the English language and literature with his students. Ed was also a talented professional musician. He played piano with many well known WNY groups and often performed solo in his later years. Family and friends may call Thursday from 2-4 PM at DIETRICH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2480 Kensington Ave., Amherst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Gregory the Great Church, 200 St. Gregory Ct., Williamsville. Please assemble at church. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Beechwood Continuing Care, 2235 Millersport Hwy., Getzville NY 14068. Online condolences shared at www.TheDietrichFuneralHome.com

Ed was a "master" of the English language, and a pleasure to work with at Seneca Vocational High School. His love of the English language and of music, as well as the influence he had on the education of so many, will truly be his legacy. Sympathy to his dear wife and best friend, Joan.

Ed was a superb teacher, who had a great command of the English language,and was a pleasure to meet and work with at Seneca Vocational High School. The knowledge and love of the English language he imparted to so many, as well as his impact on education, is truly his legacy!

Ed was a life member of our organization and we appreciate his support and dedication to education. In his name, a donation will be made to the Robert DeCormier Fund of NYSRTA, which assists retired educators in need. May he rest in peace!

Joan.... Be assured of my fondest prayers for you as you mourn the loss of your beloved husband, a devoted adorer of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Greg's. I will never forget his steadfast faith and loyalty to Our Lord during his time at the Adoration Chapel. I am eternally inspired and honored to have crossed his path. Our condolences to Joan and family in the loss of Ed. A fine gentleman with a fantastic way with words and a master of the keyboard. I had a common experience with Ed having graduated from Seneca Vocational during his tenure there as well as him being a cousin through marriage.
