Everyone who knew Dr. Beutner recognized his great mind, but I recognized more his kind heart. I worked four years for him as a lab tech and came to regard him as a father-figure. The world has truly lost a remarkable man.

I had the oportunity to take one of the Immunofluorescent courses in the early 70s when I was a Derm resident at the Unniversity of Chicago. With the knowledge obtained there I founded the "immunofluorescent laboratory" a t may UnivErsity (San Lusi Potosi Mexico), and still we are working in that field. I appreciate a lot the teaching of Dr Beutnet and his kindness and I always have HAD a good image of him. I am very sorry about his decese

I have fond memories of a kind man whom I worked with at U.B. many years ago in the 1970s. But I still remember his face and smile. He was a unique and special person. My condolences to the family of Ernst Beutner. Peace be with all.

Dr.Beutner was a thoughtful, kind man who will be deeply missed. He had insight that gave dermatology new, very important tools to help us diagnose and manage skin disease. I have used his key papers to teach dermatology residents how "a new look" at a skin disease changes the way patients get treated, and improves their chances of a healthy life. Although I did not have the chance of knowing him while he made these seminal contributions to the knowledge of skin biology, I did have the opportunity to support his effort to disseminate the important methods he created, through the teaching in our residency program at the University of Rochester. He generously created a yearly award for the resident in dermatology being trained at Rochester or Buffalo who was most interested in the advancement of knowledge in immunodermatology. Many residents were very pleased by this recognition, and our faculty enjoyed helping him give this gift.

One can praise the efforts of a career, but I also want to say the he was a kind and humble person whose personal approach was always welcome. He is one of those special people who wanted to be sure that his efforts served the many and the one person who needed it -personally, and with great kindness. He will be deeply missed.

Dear Gloria and Family - Papa Ernie will be greatly missed. We loved him and his kindness and love of family and friends will not be forgotten. His love of learning and discovery he instilled in all of us. Ernie encouraged all of us to pursue our dreams and always found the good in everything we tried even if the "experiment" failed or "pot boiled over"! We appreciated his sense of humor and good stories. He was an excellent listener and in return shared good advice. Thank-you for sharing him with our family. Ernie we have faith you are now enjoying your Sunfish Sail boat once again and we know you already found great friends to challenge a fighting game of Bridge with. Love you. Peace.

Great Ernie Beutner passed away June 10, 2013.
He was a genius, a founder of a new field of medicine – immunodermatology which in a great part thanks to him became one of most important and prolific part of modern immunology and experimental dermatology.
He was alter ego of Tadeusz Chorzelski, and also my best friend We both loved him.
He will be remembered for ever as a great, creative, most unusual person.

Mrs. Beutner, Karen and Eric,
I was very saddend to hear of Dr. Beutner's passing. He was a wonderful boss, amazing teacher and a brilliant man. He hired me right out of school and if it weren't for him, my career would not be what it is today. You and your family will be in my prayers at this dark time.

Dr. Beutner, family and lab people, He did his mission on earth with all the amazing talents God gave to him. Humble, strong, decent, loving, hard head to the extreme, perseverant, sweet, so funny, brilliant beyond most people and humble as good son of God. His concerns about how medicine and science had become so much garbage in exchange of power money and other staff was part of his life that never agree with those. He was, He is and he will be watching us over those who care for the things He care and work very hard all his life> I felt his presence where I sit working every day. I open his book I consulted over and over. He is and will continue guidance to fulfill God mission on earth for man like him, and families and lab people who protect him always. Hugs Ana Maria Abreu Velez

Dr. Beutner was an outstanding scientist, a pioneer and leader in immunodermatology (immunology and dermatology). He was a caring spouse and family man. I feel priviledged to have had him as a mentor, friend, and confidant. His enthusiasm for learning was implanted on the many scientists and physicians he mentored or interacted with. Many have profited from his largesse, generosity, and knowledge; and countless patients have benefitted from the diagnostic tests he pioneered or co-developed. Ernie, my friend, will be missed.
