I recently learned of the passing of Henry Williams and I regret I never had the opportunity to meet him. Hank Williams was a long-time member of the New York Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society (which I chair). I've certainly been moved to read the many tributes to Mr. Williams. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and his many friends.

we have lost a dear friend - one of the most decent people we have ever met - Hank always spoke to us about his dear wife, children, and grandchildren with great love. Memory Eternal

Mark & Sarah
My deepest sympathy on your fathers passing. Many neighborhood memories came from time at your house with both of your parents. Sports, trains, bells and halloween parties are what come to mind first. Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.

While I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Williams. It is easy to see that his grace has touched many lives. My prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Take comfort in the beautiful memories that you hold dear.

Sincerely,

I remember well the many times Hank took time with the neighborhood kids to toss a football, shoot baskets or pitch a whiffle ball game, seeming to take as much fun in it as we did. I remember how he knew a lot about a lot of things and how he talked to us with respect, like we were smart too. I remember him reciting an ode to the U.S.A. on July 4, 1976 in celebration of our Bicentennial -- a great and lasting memory of mine and no doubt everyone, young and old, who gathered that day on the Williams' front lawn. Sarah, Mark, your father was a tremendous guy and the world needs more like him (and your mom too); you have our prayers and sympathy.
