Dear Bruce and Julie,
Thinking of you every day.
Love, ginni

I have imagined Bentley watching from the trees as everyone has been traveling to school...and he was tugging at my heart as I picked up some garbage from one of the playgrounds yesterday. It looked beautiful when the cleaning was done. Always an inspiration that one....
love, light, and dreams

Thank you all for your kind words and support. It has been over a year since Bentley died and his spirit fills our hearts every day.

This being the first day of school Bentley would have been looking forward to this time with his friends. Know there are trees planted and standing strong in Bentley's honor at Edmunds Middle School, Champlain Elementary School and Calahan Park.

Sincerely,
Bruce Seifer, Bentley's dad

As strangers, but one in the same due to the profound love that I too have for my children, I feel it is important, and hopefully valuable, for you to know the impact the loss of your son Bentley has had on myself & my family. Two of my children, Kendall age 10 & Amari age 8, were at the potholes the day that Bentley was lost and have been overwhelmed with sadness & concern ever since. To this day, they talk about him, wondering what he was like, wondering if maybe they were playing a game on the same day at the same field. More so, they have been worrying about what life must be like now for you, his family. They attend Christ The King School in Burlington & have said that they will think of Bentley every time they are at the park. They hope to one day sit on his bench. The girls are young in spirit & naive to grief of this magnitude but have shown a level of empathy that has made me proud. Myself, I have ended many a day with Bentley being the last thought I have before I go to sleep & have shed many many tears for your pain. We will continue to pray that the love & appreciation you have for your family will help give you the strength needed to continue loving life; More so, strength from the wonderful memories you have been able to create from the precious time Bentley was in your life. I am a strong believer that children are a gift that God gives us as a privilege. They are not an entitlement or a guarantee but instead a blessing. Because they are His children first, He has the right to take them from us whenever He sees fit. I think the purpose is to have them in our lives long enough to make a permanent positive impact on the future and to ensure that we have learned enough from them to be better people. My daughter Amari said to me, "Bentley must have been so extra special that God couldn't be happy anymore without him... He needed him to come back home." Hopefully you can find comfort & hope knowing that your beautiful son Bentley is living strong in the hearts of my children; in the hearts of strangers.

Bruce and Julie -

I am so saddened by the loss of your son. As the mother of an only child I cannot imagine your pain.

Please know that my thoughts are with you. May we all take on Bentley's challenge for us to live better lives.
