To Steve's wife and family:

My sincere and heartfelt condolences. I only just learned belatedly of his death this past weekend at an oncology conference. I was shocked. I knew Steve professionally for nearly 20 years. He was an authentic and deeply caring individual. The oncology community of Vermont and of the entire nation has lost a true "tzaddik."

I am the widow one of he many men and women the Dr Grunberg treated. His sensitivity and value of a patients needs were unlike any doctors we met. I sadly heard of this news tonight and wanted to share my condolences.

How very sad I am to hear of Steve's passing. Though it has been years since I had contact with Steve, everyone has spoken so very highly of him and his dedication to his profession, my Dad especially.
My heartfelt condolences to the Grunberg family and his medical family.

Dear Kelly,
I was so very sorry to hear of Steve's passing. He was such a kind soul, so genuinely interested in people, talking time to listen. I remember him always being so supportive of the girls and what they were doing. I think of your family fondly and want you to know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Alice McNeish

Dr, Grunberg took care of my daughter, Esther Ellsworth Miller, who died of lung cancer in Jan 2013. She loved him and the rest of the family did too. We are all so sad to hear of his death. What a loss.

Dear Mrs. Grunberg and family:
I just met Steve barely a year ago when he assisted me on a project I was working on. During that time he showed himself to be not only a wonderful man and excellent physician, but a loving and caring father who absolutley adored his family. He was so proud of his children that I remarked to my wife that I hoped to emulate him as my daughters grew older. I cannot imagine your loss but am sure you recognize that the world is a better place because of Steve. May you find comfort during these trying days and know only happiness in the future.

Kelly, Annie, Elizabeth (Liz) and Kari,
I have been thinking of you so much this past month- I will write more off line, just wanted to say that I'm both heartbroken at the loss of Dr. Grunberg and grateful to have met him and all of you. I send love and hugs,
Andi

I knew Steve and Kelly when they lived in California. I remember him as being so kind and caring. He was a wonderful father and husband, Kelly, my thoughts are with you and your daughters. What a sad loss.

I just found out about Dr. Grunberg's passing from my friend and past co-resident. I am deeply saddened. I am now a physician at Dana Farber and got to know Dr. Grunberg as a resident at UVM. He was so engaging and captivating and made me want to go into oncology. I will never forget him, his laugh and twinkle in his eye when explaining to me everything I had to learn about oncology. He was kind, smart, and funny. I will miss him and my deepest sympathies to his daughters and his wife. He was and will always be in my heart and mind, a wonderful kind and caring physician and human being.

Dear Ms Grunberg and family,
I only heard of Dr Grumberg passing today when the hospital called me and I cried.
I was, according to him ,his longest surviving patient in Vermont.
Over the years we had gotten to know each other and the ckeck up times were less stressful. We could talk about something else beside the Disease.
We had in common children who wanted to work in the entertainment industry.
We talked about California, film schools and other topics totally unrelated to cancer.
My visits at Fletcher Allen will never be the same, I am dreading the next appointment.
He was a wonderful person,a great doctor, I will never forget.
My thoughts go to all of you , members of his family . I never met the younger generation but somehow got to know a little bit about them.I knew he was a great father too.
Adieu !
