Ernest William Sparks passed away peacefully at the Beverly Centre in Calgary, AB on November 3, 2013 at the age of 88 years. He is survived by sisters Jean Alwood, Edith (Garry) Wright; his brother Dennis (Betty); his sister-in-law Margaret Westerman; his children Marjorie (Stan), Jeannette, Larry (Debbie), Kelly and Mike (Caroline); eight grandchildren and their partners; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Alice, his brother Jerry and his sister Isabelle. Ernie was born on June 14, 1925 in Nanton, AB. He served in the military in WWII and was an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion. His 35 year career took him through several positions with the Department of Public Works and Environment. He and Alice enjoyed their retirement with many travel adventures throughout Canada, USA and Mexico before settling in his beloved mountains in Canmore, AB. In living memory of Ernie Sparks, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
