On behalf of Gary's sons I would like to thank everyone who has shared their memories of our father Gary. We would like to thank the Johnson family for their best wishes and flowers. Aunt Shirley, Noreen, Garth and Grant - thank you so much - Dad loved you all very much. We are hoping to have a reunion of sorts this summer. Aunt Shirley, we hope that you get better soon. We love you and Dad loved you and we hope to maybe see you in Summer.

Love Randy Dean
I've never lived in the same city as Uncle Gary so our visits were limited but Mom (Shirley) is right, when you did see him you just knew he was going to make you laugh.
As a young boy and what was probably the last Christmas held on 82nd St there was a secret Santa gift exchange, Uncle drew my name and I received a silver pocket watch that really got me excited and kept me entertained for a long time.
In 1980 I did attend SAIT which put me in Calgary for two months, Gary made time and we got together several times including going to watch Nelson play hockey.
To Nelson, Randy & Ryan. Your Pops was great and will be in my mind forever.
Garth Johnson.
Sorry to hear of your loss, Nelson. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this time.
Sincere condolences and my thoughts are with you, Nelson, and your family in this time of bereavement.
Uncle Gary had a beautiful and powerful 1965 Oldsmobile Starfire hard top, he beat me at shuffle board, he asked very very hard question, and he helped me to feel okay about myself. It has been a few years now since I last directly asked Gary for advice, though I still often ask myself, what would Gary think or say about this? I am grateful of his memory and of his continuing sound example and rational guidance. Grant Johnson, Issan, Thailand
When I was 7, I had badly broken my arm and was in the hospital. Uncle Gary came to visit me pushing a wheelchair into my room with a big smile and said he was taking me out for a walk. Before he took me back to my room he stopped at the gift shop and bought me a deck of cards!! Wow , I felt soooo special and loved by him. I have always felt happy when I was able to get in on a visit when Uncle came to town.. I was very thrilled when Joyce and Gary made a unexpected visit in 2009 to our home. I have a precious picture of uncle and me that I'd like to share. My heart is with all of you in this time of sorrow. With Love, from your cousin, Norene

"Gary always had a good sense of humor and had everyone laughing in no time. Gary had much love for his mother Rita and visited Edmonton often when repairs were needed. Mom really adored her only son. Gary played piano and guitar, he had great rhythm and expression! We all enjoyed sharing music with him, Gary was our M.C. for a big birthday party for mom and he truly was a great speaker. I'll always have fond memories of Garys' piano playing, the way he told us stories, his jokes, laughter and his love. He will be greatly missed. Sister, Shirley
I stayed at the Dean home in 1956 shortly after my graduation from Nursing, I graduated with his sister , Carol, who , to this day is a good friend of mine....Gary was also a very good friend...he was always ready with a funny joke, or saying...we spent many an hour discussing many topics, and had many a laugh....he was a good person, very compassionate, very wise, and always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be missed....Marguerite Hughes ( Nelson)
I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your Father and Grandfather. I worked with Gary in 1956 and 1957 for Loffland Drilling Co. and brought him to Tilley and toured
Jasper and Banff together. He was a good friend at the time and have seen each other a few times since. I wish
you well and please remember the beautiful memories.
Ed Sulek and family. Tilley, Alberta
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I had the pleasure of getting to know Gary while he played in SML Pool Leagues.
