MURCH, Jean L.
January 28, 1950 - December 26, 2013
With great sadness we announce that Jean Murch (nee Clayton) died peacefully and comfortably at home surrounded by her loving family. Jean is survived by her husband, Colin; son Fraser (Karmin); daughter Whitney and her much-beloved grandsons, Eli and Lincoln. She came from a close-knit family of two brothers and two sisters with whom she spent many joyful times. Jean loved her family, books and reading, gardening and social gatherings with friends. Over the years, she enjoyed many hours canoeing, cross country skiing, hiking and biking in the company of friends and family. In her successful career, Jean worked in industry and at Mt. Royal University, as a writer, editor, public relations consultant and teacher. Jean waged a long and valiant struggle with ovarian cancer. In this, she was a role model to her friends and family for her optimism, strength and courage. A Celebration of Jean's life will be held with details to be advised. No flowers are requested.

Dear Colin and Family,
Please accept my sincere condolence on your loss.
I met Jean back in Home Oil's days and recall how special your family canoeing trips on the Red Deer River were to you and to Jean. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her, but most of all by you.
My sincere sympathy to you and your family,

Jean was an incredible teacher and I thank her for giving her time and expertise. She was a stern taskmaster and for that I will always be endlessly thankful. There are so few teachers out there that care as much as Jean did. My condolences to her family and friends.

What a loss, that such a fine person would be taken so soon. As a former fellow Calgarian, it was a privilege to have known her. Jean made this a better place. She will be missed.

I was saddened to hear of Jean's passing and I extend my sympathies to the family. I experienced Jean as a kind, passionate, and caring colleague here at Mount Royal University where she taught public relations writing class. She enjoyed her work and her students. While she was happy to "talk shop", she always got around to the important matters of inquiring about the other's life, health, friends, family and general state of being. I always loved that about Jean and she will be remembered and spoken of fondly.
