DENHOFF, Shirley Marie (nee Gerlitz)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, Shirley Marie Denhoff. Shirley passed away the morning of Monday, January 8, 2018 from natural causes and was at peace with being called home by God and being reunited with her loving husband, Bill, who predeceased her five years ago. Shirley is survived by her loving children, Michael (Pat), Paul, Nancy (Don) and David (Sally); her two grandchildren, Sam and Dan; as well as her sisters Irene and June and her brother Dennis (Eva). Shirley had a very fulfilling career as a nurse as she loved to care for people, but her family was her pride and joy. She loved nothing more than being with family and friends, whether out camping, at family gatherings or at parties. She also enjoyed tending to her flower garden, reading novels and magazines, and going for walks. Shirley's faith in God was unwavering and she was the sweetest, kindest and most loving person to all. A Memorial Service will be held at Highwood Lutheran Church, 419 Northmount Drive NW, on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, www.heartandstroke.ca. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca. FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM. Telephone: 403-297-0888. I was so saddened to hear of the passing of my Great Auntie Shirley. She was such a sweet, loving woman whom I have such fond memories of. I'm very thankful for the time we spent together a few years ago when her, Auntie June and Nancy made it out to my Wedding in Muskoka. Sending you all love at this time. Auntie Shirley will forever hold a special little place in my heart.

Great childhood memories of summer visits to Calgary. My Auntie Shirley always smiling and always ready for a trip to the zoo or a picnic at a park or a great game of Scat. Auntie Shirley always showed us how much she loved children. She was always so kind and considerate to us. She truly had the patience of Saint. My most beloved Auntie, who will be remembered and cherished forever in my heart. Until we meet again.....have the cards ready! xoxo your loving niece, Patti

We read the sad news that your dear Mom, Shirley, passed away on the 8th of January, and Marj and I want to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to all the Family. We remember Shirley with great fondness...she always had such a lovely smile, and we recall her every Spring bringing beautiful bouquets of peonies to beautify the church sanctuary. Although no words can take away your loss or sorrow, hopefully time will lessen your pain. May the memories you have of Shirley, and all those special times you shared together as a family, be of comfort and consolation to you now, and in the days ahead. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God grant you His peace! Sincerely, Cliff and Marj Fiesel

Most of my favourite childhood memories are mingled with visits to Aunt Lid's. Being amongst the other(Gerlitz) girls was always fun! Looking back now I can only think of how lucky we all were living there on second avenue close to school and church...knowing all the neighbours.
My sincere condolences to all family members and close friends of this most dear and lovely lady!!
