Smith HART Obituary
November 28, 1948 - July 2, 2017
It is with great sorrow and sadness we announce the passing of Smith after a courageous battle with cancer. The eldest of Stewart and Helen Hart's twelve children, he was an accomplished professional wrestler who made significant contributions to the Stampede Wrestling promotion. He will be remembered by many of the younger generation of wrestling performers that he trained and influenced throughout his career. Smith is survived by his four children: Tobi, Tania, Matthew, and Chad and his three grandchildren: Jessica, Amanda, and Isabella. He will be forever loved and missed by his children, grandchildren, remaining siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, and all of those whose lives he touched. A Service of Remembrance to honour Smith's life will be held at the Calgary Marlborough Community Association, 636 Marlborough Way N.E. Calgary, Alberta on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Smith's memory may be made directly to the Prostrate Cancer Centre www.prostratecancercentre.ca. Dear Hart Family, so sorry for your loss. Smith was indeed one of a kind special soul. Last saw him at Ernest Manning High School closure reunion. Yes, remember well the black limo making the stops at Westgate Elementary, Vincent Massey JH and Ernest Manning HS. If you missed it you would have to walk home! Dean used to walk me home and my mother loved his big brown eyes. As well recall Stu shopping at Safeway after hours pushing several carts full of goodies. Spent time at the mansion with all the family and pets running about. And of course those beautiful family portraits of the children in the library. Sending you all much Love, Light and Blessings. Smith was such a wonderful encouragement to so many indie workers. After one of Scott's matches, Smith came to him and said: "matches like that are why I'm still a fan."
Those words meant, and continue to mean everything to Scott, and to me by extensions.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Hart family. Thank you for making Smith the person he was.

To the beautiful Hart family that I have adored since the 1980's...I never had the honor of meeting Smith but I met Bret and Owen many times over the years. Helen and Stu raised some wonderful children and I am honored to have known of the Hart Family. Like I told Bret they are slowly building a new mansion in Heaven. May God hold you in his grace Smith Died on Bret's birthday and buried on mine July 10th.

To the Hart Family, When the huge black limo would pull up to the school, the Harts where at school. Vincent Massey's largest Family. We would meet up at the Mansion and wonder at if it was real or acting. Smith was the leader the oldest but at the core was Family. It has been always been with kind thoughts and a smile that always included that big black limo. As a Family they made a difference and helped in so many ways. We will miss you Smith, RIP.

Smith was manynthings in life. He was my friend. When my father akurt Avon zhess passed away Smith made sure he was recognized with honour in front of 20,000 fans as my sister Alison and I walked out to the ring in honour of our dad for a ten bell count (along with Rick Rude and his brother Owen). Smith made us feel like we where honourary guests and our loss should be recognized. We stayed friends all these years. He was always always so kind and thoughtful. I am so sorry he is gone, but thankful he is no longer in pain and suffering. He was a good friend. Among other times, I would see Smith year after year at the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame when it was in Amsterdam, NY. My heart and prayers go ut to Smith and his entire family.

The first time I met Smith was 8 years ago in Bradford Ontario. When he was living with his son Michael. I will never forget the joke he told me when we met. It is for adult ears only so i will not repeat. In the last 7 years of knowing him I have learned of his many worldly adventures. I will miss all the treasures that he had brought to mine and Michael's house many times over the years. We shared a loved of reading and he would always come home with a book or 2 for me. On his recent stay at mine and Michael's home in March we became closer and he will forever be in my heart. Rest easy Smith.

I met Smith through his son Michael and daughter in law Nicole. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. Smith was always happy and excited to be around his grandsons Ashwin and Lakken and always enjoyed spending time with them when he could. I knew Smith when he lived in Newmarket, Ontario from about 2013 to about 2015. We would sit beside one another in church. I found Smith to be a very humble person and a very likeable person. RIP Smith
