So sorry to hear about your loss, my condolences to all.
Hank was a good friend of my parents and he was the first person to write me a letter when I was 3 months old. He was an artist, too!
This little snippet shows how proud he was of his family:
I had a letter from my wife in La Pallice which informed me that my eldest boy, Michael, had won a scholarship to a very good boys school. I am so very pleased, and proud of him! Now why didn't I have brains. ... now I must go and bring my ship into Brest. Tonight we shall celebrate my Michael's scholarship award

Sorry for your loss. He sounds like a great man.
I too came across this while searching for info. for a Vondette family tree. I have received a huge document that Hank created about his family tree and some history, it is wonderful.
If anyone has any more info. they wish to share or wants to get some, you can contact me at [email protected]

Dear Tim sorry to hear of your loss . I think your Dad might have been responsible for our entry into naval reserves. Thus, thanks... life is chance, thank you and him. Perhaps we will meet again one day.

This is unrealated to this guest book. My name is Natalie Vondette and I live in Saginaw MI. I am 12 years old. I was searching our family name and came across Capt. Henry Vondette. I was amazed to find out that he died on my birthday July 20th. My mom has a family tree book, however I didn't see your family in it. I would be interested to find out more about your family and if we are related to you. My great-grandma Margret Vondette died on 1-23-06. She would have been the only person to know. Hope to hear from you. Have a happy holiday.

It was a pleasure to meet Hank and have the opportunity to hear his stories. My thoughts are with Ursula and the family during this difficult time.

We got to know Hank over the past 17 years as a neighbour. We live at opposite ends of Kildonan Road and gradually got to know him while he was out dog-walking, at first, McDougall and then, later, McDuff and Smedley (the cat). The more we got to know Hank, the more we liked, respected and admired him.

In business, the most important skill is character judgment. I have been self-employed since 19 yrs. old primarily because I'm stubborn and don't like to be told what to do. Hank was one of the very few people that I have ever known that I liked and respected enough to think that it would have been a lot of fun to work under him. Even though much time had gone by since his Navy days, you could still see what an exceptional leader he must have been.

Rosemary and I sure miss Hank -- the neighbourhood just doesn't feel the same.

Sometimes you're so busy you don't take time to consider what's important.

Spend some time thinking about who's important to you and go visit them.
