My name is Tom Quinley. Son of Bud Quinley who was the manager for Cotters fastpitch softball team in the early sixties. I used to idolize Jim Coppa as a pitcher. The best around. I actually got to see him in 07 when I was back on vacation in Canon.I'm sure glad I was able to see him again. So sorry for the families loss.

I was quite young but I remember Jim played for the Cotter fast pitch softball team. It was a tournament. Cotter was playing an out of town team - Cotter was behind and their pitcher doing badly. Jim was called off the bench and he sauntered out and like something out of a movie, took over, fanning opposing player after player. What a hero! I'll carry that memory to my own grave. Thanks Jim, for a childhood thrill at the ballpark in Canon City back in the 50's.

My condolences to the Joan and the Coppa family.Jim was a couple of years ahead of me but have many fond memories of Jimmy when I worked at Short Lumber Company during the summer, played softball against him at night and even went to regional tournament in Casper with him.

Chris and Family, I am so sorry to hear the news. Mr. Coppa was such a great guy and my Dad always spoke highly of him.

God Bless You All.
