Sharon and Family--Sorry to read about the death of Bill. Always thought of you and Bill as good family friends, and particularly thankful for the way you guys looked after my sister Marla. Sorry we missed the memorial. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family.

So sorry for your loss. Growing up with your family as our neighbors is a memory that I will always cherish. Bill was loved by so many and I will always remember him as the gentle man that never missed an opportunity to share a smile with the little girl next door. May the peace that passes all understanding keep your hearts during this time and may the heavens rejoice at the coming home of this beloved man. Thinking of you prayerfully.

Please accept my apology for missing the memorial for your father. I was out of town on business last week and failed to read the obituary until today. Rest assured that I would have proudly paid my respects to him and to your family.

Your father continues to have a very special place in my heart. He treated me and all of us that were privileged to be a part of your childhood, with respect and as intellectual peers. Until I met your father when I was an adolescent, I had not interacted with an adult that treated me like one of the guys and was genuinely interested in what I had to say. His willingness to engage me in advanced dialogue and ask question upon question about what interested me, is a trait I admired then and try to emulate today. As far as I know, he was a friend and roll model to virtually everyone he met and I am certainly proud to be on that very long list.

My belief is that a man is an assemblage of everyone he has known and all of the experiences he has had throughout his life. Hopefully a man's positive experiences outnumber the negatives and he ultimately leaves a legacy of significance. Your father, although flawed like many of us, left a legacy we can all aspire to. I am a better man for having known Bill Crossman and he will live forever, as a small part of that assemblage, in each of us that he touched.
