On page 5, Ms. Motten wrote in folks; Curt's wife. Thank You Ma'am!
We wish more guys of the teams Paul played on would do so too, for bringing this entire display-to a remarkable finale.
This Baltimore Era was a long time ago, and just look at the greatness we all feel, and feel for each other reading your stuff, like being a part of that era some more.
I wrote in on page 5 too.
Please continue-and encourage more.

Paul Blair was the best centerfielder that I have ever seen. It was a pleasure to watch him play centerfield in Baltimore. In addition to his great glove, speed and hitting ability, he was a man with a strong work ethic and was always striving for excellence. I will never forget him and was so lucky to have my picture taken with him at a Camera Day at Memorial Stadium in the early 1970s. He was a fantastic centerfielder, a wonderful man and a beloved Oriole.

Paul, thank you for all the wonderful memories.

To Mrs.Blair and the Blair family- May God bless you and comfort you.

January 03, 2014
My deepest sympathy to the family. I remember Paul Blair as a class act. Growing up a little kid that love the Orioles in the 60's I remember so much about him. My fondest memory was the cool trot he had after a third out. He used to tuck his glove under his arm and jog in from the outfield. I copied that run for a number of years. God Bless you Mr. Blair, see ya on the other side.

May we all find strength in holding on to our memories as we must say "goodbye" to a very special man. Our condolences to Gloria, his children, grandchildren and friends. Paul you will be missed. Love, Diane, Mike and Danny Michalek
January 03, 2014
I mentioned in a previous post that Paul Blair hit a long fly ball to left field at Memorial Stadium against Texas in 1971. I mentioned I ended up getting this ball. I forgot to mention it was his first home run of the year! It was off of Bill Gogeleski. The O's only run of that game was Paul's home run and I still have it and have cherished that ball for 43 years.
RIP Paul and thanks for a memory of a life time and especially one bestowed on a 12 year old Oriole fan at the time who still bleeds Orange and black. Thanks to the internet I keep on top of current Oriole news like that of Pauls passing here in India.

The best ever playing center field. Never played deep but very shallow center to rob the opposition of key hits. He had it all, speed, great defensive skills, cluth hitter and a great team player. He gave the fans of Baltimore memories of a lifetime and will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace and enjoy everlasting life. Thanks for the memories.

I remember when Thurman Munson of the Yankees passed away, reading a newspaper article (NY Daily News?) about the players who attended the funeral. I was extremely touched by something Paul Blair wrote to his former manager Billy Martin. He was commenting on how much he loved Thurman and how he wished he could have told him so before losing him. I cannot recall the exact words but it went something like "before I miss the chance to tell you I want you to know that I love you." I've searched for the exact newspaper article but cannot find it. I remember as a teenager how ballplayers seemed much more human to me after reading that. Thank you Paul Blair. And my deepest sympathy to the Blair family.
December 30, 2013

The O's played Texas in 71. Bill Gogeleski was pitching. Paul Blair hit a long fly to left,Frank Howard went back, back, and the ball hit off the fence and bounced into the bleachers and I got it! I was 12 yrs old. What a PRIZE!! Years later I met Paul Blair on the golf course and told him. He just laughed and was more interested in talking about his golf game that day.
RIP Paul and my condolences to the family. One more Oriole now flying high above Memorial Stadium.

As a young boy we idolized Paul and the way he played and respected the game of baseball. We would often mimic the way he would tuck his glove under his arm and trot off the field after making a spectacular catch, his head held high, and the look of pride written all over his face. It was my personal joy to meet and befriend him at Kings Point Lanes and continue league bowling with him in Pikesville on the Thursday Night Thunder Bowling League. Paul was a kind, down to earth guy and will be deeply missed by all of us that will look for his smile, laughter, and teasing when we come through the door. It will be very tough.
God Bless you Paul because you made a difference in all of us.
Our condolences to his family.

He was always so approachable and his smile would light up a room . He became friends with my family and even attended a baseball awards breakfast for my little league bringing Yankee rookie Dave Righetti with him !! My family and I ran into him in Cooperstown where my parents moved to many years later, my dad pulled out a picture of me, my sister and Paul out of his wallet to show Paul and he was in awe that my dad still carried it for like twenty years . So very sorry for the loss of such a great and inspiring individual. Many memories from my childhood in Memorial Stadium included the many great plays he made as an Oriole vented fielder. None will surpass his catching the fly ball in the 4th game of the 1966 World Series to give the Orioles the victory. I was in fhd stands that day. May he rest in peace with other players who now reside in heaven. God Bless his family. He left fans quite a legacy

The great Paul Blair. No one, even Willie Mays, could play center field better than Blair. He obviously wasn't the hitter Willie was but he had his moments.

Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.
December 27, 2013
My favorite memory was watching him live at Memorial Stadium and he hit a in the park grand slam homerun! I remember my father telling me "remember that son because you'll probably never see that again the rest of your life". So far, Dad was right. Thanks for the memories, RIP.

As a Greek kid growing up in the '60s I played Arbutus litle league in Center Field and pretended I was Paul Blair. In 1794 I got to meet him in the CCC locker room, I was playing Lacrosse and he was there excercising. I got to tell him what he meant to me growing up and how cool it was to meet him. God bless you as you miss Him as I will. Sam Tsakalas

Paul was my favorite player on my favorite team. I had the extreme good fortune to drive him from Syracuse to Cooperstown for a golf outing 15 years ago. He was just as I'd imagined, reserved, quiet, and impressive. I told him that as a boy I played the board game Strat O Matic and that he led the league in hitting 3 years in a row! He asked me how that could be since he was only a career .250 hitter. I replied, "I cheated!!!" He loved that and for the rest of the car ride the stories flowed. Great stories that I continue to tell today. He spoke lovingly of his wife and family. I cherish the memory of that day and of the autographed jersey I went home with. (The only autograph I've ever sought out) My condolences to the Blair family. To Paul, thank you for all my wonderful memories. Judge Stephen Dougherty Syracuse, NY

I met Paul Blair a Cooperstown about 4 or 5 years ago. He was genuniely happy that I remembered his stint with the Yankees from when I was a kid. Very soft-spoken and classy. And he made a fuss over my son, who was awed, as I was to see Paul, Goose Gossage (pre-hall), and Graig Nettles all in one spot. Paul even gently suggested they also pose with my son for pictures. Rest in peace and prayers for his family.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of this great all-star. I was in the ninth grade in 1966 when I watched the Orioles take apart the Dodgers and saw Paul hit the home run in game three. He certainly earned his place in the Orioles hall of fame. Wow I can only imagine the great baseball game in heaven he is playing in. May the god of love give his love to Pauls' family at this time of sadness. Rest in Peace Paul, once an all-star always an all-star.

As a Red Sox fan I can attest to how great a player this man was and how much I dreaded seeing him come up to the plate or take the field. Certainly one of the greatest outfielders around. You will never be forgotten by true lovers of the game!
