We will be forever grateful for the tremendous support Dana gave our dad after our mother died. Dana was a fine man and a great friend to Dad. His passing leaves an emptiness in our hearts.

Dana, a.k.a. Smoot.
He was a terrific guy. The best of company, smiling, laughing and quick with a joke or work of encouragement. He was the best at everything. A terrific team mate.

Your best buddy, Rick

Dana was a hard worker, but he always made time to help someone who needed it. He enjoyed life surrounded by nature and friends. He loved the man's world of hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, camping, and sports. His philosophy seemed to be that life was meant to be lived. His family was really important, and he enjoyed thinking of Zane in his life and teaching him how to enjoy the world around him. Dana always looked for the positive things. This was especially true of people. Life is too short to focus on the problems. Be true to yourself, treat others as you want to be treated, and enjoy those things you have and be content. Love others and the world around you. I think Dana left a pretty large footprint as he lived. I hope we all hold true to the kind of life he lived. When we laugh, work, share a tear, feel the world around us, or comfort others, let us think of this fine man. Thanks Dana for all you have given us. We're good! You are great!

I'm a client of Trugreen and will never forget how much he helped us when he helped us realize what was killing our trees. He was so knowledgeable. He identified a problem that no one else did. He was such a kind person and I immediately felt a warmeth from his great personality. I called Trugreen weeks ago to see if Dana was available, but he wasn't. Not knowing what was wrong I felt like I should pray for him and did. Now, I shall pray for the family. My mother passed away suddenly too, but I know God can comfort the family in an amazing way when people pray. God loves you. We will all miss this great man. He made an impact on me in a way no one will know, and I was just a client. I will donate Bibles in his memory to be given to the very poor in Africa where my church sponsors orphanages, prison libraries and schools. I will also plant some trees in his memory. May God be with the family in a great way.

Dana was a very special kind of person. I realize one of the reasons is because he had a very special family. You are wonderful people. I told Dana once that I thought his mom and dad would be very proud of the man he had become. I hope all of you are as well. Thanks for being so considerate of me. May we all keep our good memories of Dana and the many ways in which he touched our lives. And don't forget to share them with Zane. I thought of him as such a blessing to me in my time of need, but obviously he was a blessing to so many, a true man of encouragement. My thanks to the spirit of Dana and to all of you who molded his life. I miss you my friend. We're good!

Dana was always smiling and always had a positive outlook on life. Everyone that knew him, loved him. We've known his step children for several years, and he always treated them as his very own and loved talking about them. We had so much fun watching the "little dads" coach a softball team full of girls taller than them :) He'll always watch over you all and will always be so proud of all of your accomplishments. May you guys find strength and comfort in knowing that your angel rests peacefully.

My heart is breaking for this unexpected and sudden loss of an amazing man. He wasn't just an Uncle to me. He was so much more. I will forever cherish the memories of all the crazy, silly things we did. Some of my best memories of growing up involve my Uncle Dana.

My prayers are going out to all that are suffering from this horrible loss. We all have a hole in our hearts right now that will never mend. But we will always have those amazing memories of our times with him.

May God watch over everyone as we deal with this loss.

I love you so much Uncle Dana and I will forever miss you.
