Martin Shiplett Obituary
77 of Canton died Monday, May 19, 2014. Martin was born June 4, 1936 in Somerset, Ohio to the late Homer and Mary (Stalter) Shiplett. A veteran of the US Marine Corp., he was a meat cutter for 15 years, worked at the Canal Fulton True Value for 18 years and Walmart for eight years. He loved his family, he was one of thirteen children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob, Harold, Tyke, Tom and Leo; sisters, Mary, Rita and Betty. He is survived by his sons, Richard (Tammy) Shiplett, Alan Shiplett and Marty Shiplett; grandchildren, Cara (Aaron) Rich and Jim Shiplett, Sierra, Savanna, Shianne, Slade and Soren Shiplett; brothers, Jim and Pete; sisters, Dorothy and Eileen; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service FRIDAY, 11 a.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry Street, (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton) with Fr. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. Friends may call THURSDAY, 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, Burial with military honors 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.

Marty and I grew up together and I remember him as a good friend. We enlisted in the Marines Corps together. May happy memories you shared with him comfort you. My condolences to the Shiplett Family

My heart and prayers go out to the Shiplett family! I know that you may not know me, but I worked with Marty when he first started at Walmart and he was the sweetest guy ever!! I loved him so much! He always looked out for me and my boys and always had a caring heart when it came to us! Marty gave me the nickname 'Cookie' because he'd always buy me cookies and couldn't remember my real name! I am so sorry to hear that he has gone! He was loved and will be missed by so many!!! I love you Marty!!! I'll never forget you!!! You'll be in my heart forever!!!
