I just happened to go in the 30th St Giant Eagle on my lunch hour today to cash a check when I read a thank you note on the customer service counter to GE customers on all the kinds words about Phil. I had to ask, what about Phil? I didn't know he was gone. My boys are close to his age and we had once lived for 11 years in a neighborhood very close to Phil. Phil was my paper boy! and I remember him pulling his little brother John in a wagon with all the newspapers. Needless to say I will miss seeing him at the 30th St Giant Eagle. My heart goes out to his family. Patti Hamilton and sons Brad Shafer and Todd Shafer. Rest in peace Phil..

Philip will live on forever in my heart. He will not be forgotten

I just learned of Phil's passing. I remember Phil fondly from my eight years at the 30th Street Giant Eagle. He truly was a great guy and always a pleasure to interact with. I can never remember him having a cross word to say about anything and always having a smile on his face. My heart goes out to his family for their loss.
