Rocco A. Saracina
age 90, of Canton, passed early Sunday morning, September 16, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Rocco was born in Canton, to the late Potito and Leonarda (Destefano) Saracina. He was preceded in death by his son, Rocco Saracina; brother, Michael Saracina; sisters: Nancy May, Mary Hoffman, and Anna Notturno. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, an Army Veteran of World War II, and a former board member of the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club. Rocco was a beloved volunteer at the Laurels Nursing Home, and given the honor of cutting the ribbon for their latest addition. He retired from the East Ohio Gas Company after 35 years of service. He was a dedicated father, teaching his children the value of hard work and service to others through his actions and words.
Rocco was a loving husband to Anna and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be long remembered for his kindness, generosity and quick wit. ("Anna and I only ever had one argument, it lasted 67 years.") Rocco is survived by his wife, Anna (Contrucci) Saracina; children: Sophie (David) Hanlon, Daniel (Jill) Saracina; daughter-in-law, Robin Saracina; seven grandchildren: Nicholas (Eileen) DePasquale, Rocco (Alicia) Saracina, Laura Saracina, Ellen, Allison, Caroline, and Sam Saracina; great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Leonardo; sister-in-law, Christina Saracina; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Msgr. Frank A. Carfagna as celebrant. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heifer International, www.heifer.org

Sophie, I am so sorry about the loss of your dear Dad. There is a special bond between a Dad and his daughter. One of the greatest relationships you can have as an adult. Just remember all the good times and the good memories Sophie. They will bring you much comfort in the dark days ahead.
