Dear Jill and family,
I am very sad to learn today of Dr. Coughlin's passing. My husband, Phil (Dr. Philip Burgess - Bird Rock Dental) read about John in the SD County Dental Society Sept. FACETS.
I worked for John in 1973. He was a wonderful man. I still remember that year fondly. He was a kind employer. After tasting the coffee I made for him that first day of my employment he graciously told me I did not need to make it ever again! (It was my first time making coffee.)
Jill, you and John came to Phil and my wedding at Del Mar Episcopal Church in July 1974. I still have a photo of you two from that day.
We smile whenever we think of him and will continue to hold him in our hearts.

The Radish Queen has lost her king. Loved and much loved, John was so great to know. Beautiful Garden, beautiful home and beautiful life. The gold standard for living. Don and Laura Starr
I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. Please find peace and comfort in Psalms 65:2.
Dear Jill and Family:
Sending you my heartfelt condolences. Ever since John retired and even before that whenever I saw him he was on his way to do something good for the community or else on his way back. He built the benches in our parks, he helped out at the Fairgrounds, and there was always a cheery wave, a smile and maybe a joke as he drove by on a tractor. Whenever there was work to be done or something to be built he pitched in and did it. What a wonderfully kind, humorous and modest man he was. They must need a good dentist in Heaven who also knows how to build excellent benches.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Just remembering the USC days and how wonderful you and John met and had 50 years together. Love Laurie Hoagland

Jill and family,
So sorry to hear about Dr. Coughlin. He was my dentist from 1983 when I was five years old until he retired when I was in college. He was a very special person. My mother Betty Lippert and I remember him fondly. My grandmother, Esther Lippert, who died at 100 used to babysit your children and just adored him. We are so sorry for your loss.

To the Family: I was a patient for years and years until Dr. Coughlin's retirement and continue on with the office to this day. Dr. Coughlin and i shared many discussions with reference to others who were from Scripps and UCSD. I am so sorry at his young age that he has left us - he was dearly loved I know by all of his patients (myself included).
