Betty Burke Obituary

Betty Jane Burke March 11, 1933 October 31, 2013 Surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren, Betty Jane Burke, 80, of Rebersburg, passed peacefully from this life at her home on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Born in Pennsylvania Furnace on March 11, 1933, Betty was a daughter of the late George I. and Marjorie I. Saucerman Bigelow. She was a 1951 graduate of Miles Township High School. On June 11, 1957, she married Arthur W. Burke who preceded her in death on December 13, 1974. Betty was employed at the former Hanover Cannery Store for 10 years. Betty was an avid bowler and card player. She also enjoyed pitching horse shoes, gardening and she especially loved time spent with her family. She was a loving mother, raising and taking care of her family alone after Arthur passed away. Betty is survived by two daughters, Debra R. Burfield (Dennis), of Monument and Karen A. Moton, of Worcester, Mass.; and two sons, Charles A. Burke, of Rebersburg and Edward A. Burke (Diane), of Philipsburg. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. In accordance with Betty's wishes, all services are private. Contributions in her memory may be given to Paralyzed Veterans at https://secure.pva.org or to Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
