To the family of Elinor Ostrom my heartfelt condolences for your loss, and as you grieve, may God the hearer of prayer help you to endure this trying time and grant you peace as spoken of at Psalm 65:2
I remember Lynn as a neat gal who I enjoyed her company and friendship in several classes and clubs in High School. When I heard she had won a Nobel prize, I called & emailed her to congratulate her. She was a very special lady. She will be missed.
I was her student & worked for her as a research associate in the early 1970's as well. She was a role model & influences my thought still. Never a surprise that she won the Nobel, even then she brought grant money to IU. I worked as a team leader in St. Louis in 1972 & the interdisciplinary nature of our work, plus her concepts of govt and people cooperating for the common good have been my tools in every group I have ever been a part of. These concepts work!
A truly remarkable woman has been lost to the world. I did not know her personally but she mentored my nephew David Schwab throughout his graduate studies. He talked frequently of her valuable assistance and friendship offered. My condolences to her family, friends and acquaintances on their loss.
