I have many happy memories of Jason in the Hut at Hopkins. We all had such fun times. What a sad loss! Deepest condolences to his family.
It was a pleasure to make his acquaintance and I would always smile when I saw him coming down the hospital hallways. I just found out about his passing and am truly saddened, but happier to know that I had actually known him!
I was shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Jason in the Hopkins Alumni Magazine. My sincere condolences to the Spiers family and to his wife and children. May your faith and fond memories bring you comfort. Rest in peace Spiers.

I feel blessed to have been a friend of Jason from Hopkins and UAB. We all knew early that he was as generous, intelligent, and loving a man that we would ever meet. The world is certainly a better place because of Jason. May peace be with his family.
jason, you were a blessing and a gift for many. rest in peace.
Jason was a great guy and was always will to assist anyone. He will be greatly missed. I will keep his family in my prayers.
I remember you and your outstanding sense of humor as a stuident in my sophomore English class at Jenkins County High School. After you graduated, I was happy to learn that you had chosen medicine as your vocation. I knew you would be a great doctor. I had lost track of you and your family over the years, and was shocked to learn of your unfortunate demise. You are with the angels now. May God wrap his loving arms around your family at this difficult time.
My father was in ICU at Palmetto Health Richland on November 4th. Dr. Spiers had the most difficult task of telling us that there was nothing that could be done medically to help Daddy. He broke this news to us in the most compassionate, empathetic and professional manner possible. We were shocked and saddened on Sunday the 5th to learn of Dr. Spiers' death. He was a truly gifted physician and I am sorry that future families in the same situation as ours won't have Dr. Spiers with them on their journey. He helped our family so much, and, I believe, greeted my Dad in heaven the next day. I pray for God's Peace for all who knew him.
Getting to know Dr. Spiers and sharing in his love of teaching was a true joy. My condolences in this loss for your family. I pray that the joy and peace of the coming Advent and Christmas season will bring you comfort.
Jason's caring and expertise in taking care of his patients and working with the staff in the hospital will be missed.
My deepest condolences go to the Spiers family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Dr. Spiers was a wonderful man and excellent physician. He was well liked and always made work more enjoyable. He loved to talk about his family and would share memories from their vacations. He will be greatly missed.

Having the opportunity to work with Dr. Spiers was a joy and privilege. He had an infectious smile and positive attitude that inevitably would cause you to smile and even laugh while in his presence. Despite trying moments at work, he made the best of any situation. He treated all those he met with respect and grace and never hesitated in sharing his knowledge when asked. How he was able to remember everyone's name (first, middle, and last) was such a gift that only added to his charm. He was genuinely interested in those with whom he worked. He made everyone feel special.
His family was of the greatest importance to him although he never neglected the requirements of his career. He took great joy in showing pictures of his children and wife to us, even sharing them through Facebook! He was so proud of them all. He always spoke of the travels he had taken with them and the ones he planned on taking.
Know that your dad really loves you and carry that in your hearts every day.
It saddens me greatly to lose such a wonderful, bright person from whom I and many others have learned so much. My thoughts and prayers to his loved ones during this difficult time.
Dr.Spiers, we became hospital friends when you saw and laughed at the sticker on my lunch box,(What would Nixon do)! I always enjoyed our conversations and I can only hope to see the world through your lens of love and humor. There is nothing more I can add except to say that your loss presents us with a vacuum that we now must ourselves try to fill. No one filled a space like you Dr. Spiers, the paradigm of affability and profesionalism.
Heaven just got a little brighter! May you rest in peace, Dr. Spiers. I will never forget you!
Dr. Spiers was truly one of the greatest. He loved his work and he loved his family. He was always bragging on his children and quick to tell you all that they had accomplished. He had the special knack of making everyone feel important. He always took the time to talk with his patients and their families no matter how busy he was. He truly made a difference in all that he did. It was always a good feeling to go into work and see his name as the intensivist for ICU. May HIS grace, peace, and protection be on you as you begin this walk in your lives and may you always know how much you were loved by such a special man.
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of this great physician. Dr. Spiers' wit, humor, and wisdom will be very, very missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
I had the great pleasure of knowing and working with Dr. Spiers at Presbyterian Hospital and he was the friendliest, most lovable person. Always upbeat and always stopped to share a good story and share the joke of the day. He will be greatly missed but his memory will continue to always live in my heart.

He was always ready to talk religion and politics with me at 6:30 am many mornings at Presby years ago and he took great care of me once when i was sick in the hospital. As a nurse, I respected his humor and fun.Prayers for your family.
Dr. Spiers you were the best of the best! You were so very deeply caring for your patients and their families. You were as much worried about me as you were my late wife. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. May God bless and look after them in this time of need.

I see the life you lived in your son, Jackson, a close friend to our son, Elliott. Jackson is a remarkable boy, a favorite for spend-the-nights. He'll grow up learning more about your life and the wonderful traits he inherited from you and Latessa. We'll be here for your family as you watch over them. Malcolm & Lauren Campbell
Dr. Spiers was a wonderful Dr. who always made the staff feel like co-workers instead staff. he always had a funny story! He will be missed by all. I hope his family takes comfort in the fact that he lived his short life to the fullest! he packed alot of fun in 47yrs! what a wonderful man! he will be missed
Thinking and praying for your family at this time. His pranks and jokes in the clinic made difficult days light-hearted.
Dr. Spiers...what a CHARACTER! He had friends in all parts of the hospital, not just in ICU! Maybe because you could hear his voice down the hall! He was so friendly, funny, and unpredictable! I am confident that we all have stories we could tell. He enjoyed life surely because of the perspective his work placed in his path. Latessa, please know how sorry I am for your loss. My heart aches for you in this time of devastation. And Mary Elizabeth and Jackson, your Dad made such a difference in the lives of others...and he adored you both. Somehow he was able to manage both aspects in life that were dear to him; medicine and family, and make it look easy. The entire medical community in this area has been in sheer shock upon the knowledge of his passing. He will truly be missed by many.
You are certainly "Living the Dream"now. You will be missed by everyone that knew and loved you especially by your PPCC family
We mourn the loss of Jason along with the family, feeling the void that's left...but we also rejoice in the fact he's now in the presence of the Father, being forever loved in the purest of ways. We'll miss you at Calvary!
