Mrs. Crosby,
We will always remember you as one of the greatest educators of all time!
November 21, 2013
I am sorry for your loss. Mrs Crosby was my teacher. She will be missed. She kept her students in line and we do not have a lot of teacher that reached out to their kid but at the same time you were being discipline. My mom passed and it is hard but one day at a time.

Mrs. Crosby was my 2nd grade teacher at Lincoln Heights. She was a remarkable educator who nurtured, entertained, and cultivated her students' abilities. I am glad she is a part of my story.

There will be an empty chair at the holiday table this year, but it will be filled with loving memories.

Mrs. Crosby was my principal at Billingsville. She was a dynamo of love, affection and compassion. She had one of those personalities and spirits that stay with you long after direct interaction has ceased.

In some way, I owe my professional and civic path to her and others who provided understanding of the importance of helping those in proximity while reaching back for others who need a hand.

Mrs.Crosby(called Miss Crosby with all due respect)was everyone's teacher at Lincoln Heights. She made you feel so special whenever in her presence.
So much can be said as to how she influenced a positive learning experience.
Thanks Miss Crosby for being there at the beginning of my educational experience.

Mrs Crosby taught me in the second grade at Pineville School. She was teacher I always think of and want to be remembered as she was.
I wish I had known she was here in Houston because I would love to have seen her often.
Mr and Mrs Crosby often entertained my parents and me in their home. Often spent time with her after church. They were lovely people.
Mrs Crosby was a wonderful teacher and someone I wanted to pattern my life after.
November 25, 2012
She lit up the world with her smile. As a student at Billingsville Ele. in the early 70's I witnessed first hand how hard she worked to bring all "her babies" together. At that time I was being bullied by other students, she saw it and reached out to me. She invited me to eat lunch with her in her office often just to check in and support me in any way she could. This changed my life! Someone saw me, cared about me, and loved me the way only Kat could. She was a GREAT woman and friend. I was blessed to know her. All my love to her family. Shelly Graham

Mrs. Crosby was never my teacher but I always wished she had. All the other kids hoorayed when they new she would be teacking them. Not only did she work with kids in school she was a superb mentor and teacher to all of us kids at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Crosby left an impression on us we will never forget.

We loved Aunt Kitty !! We spent so many wonderful meals and holidays with her, Uncle Joe, Kathy and Joey. Our New Year's Chittling Feast was a family tradition for many years. She and Uncle Joe never missed the opportunity to connect with family and friends over food. They encouraged displays of talent from the younger nieces and nephews. No matter how bad my children sang, they got loud applause from their parents, grandparents, Uncle Joe and Aunt Kitty.

The memories are PERFECT !! They are filled with joy and love and a deep sense of family.

Aunt Kitty touched many lives. We are thankful for her presences in ours. We will always hear her encouraging words, her laugh and feel her hand pushing us on to do better than we thought we could.

God Bless you Aunt Kitty and give your soul eternal peace.

Joey and Kathy, we send our prays and love.

Kathy and Joe,
May I extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family in the loss of your mother, Mrs. “Kat” Crosby. My initial acquaintance with her extends back to when you I were Junior High school students together in Charlotte, NC. However it was not until she became a hair styling customer of my wife, Cynthia, that I got to know her a little more personal and our friendship developed. I always knew and appreciated her and your father's work as insurance and educational professionals. They were great parents also. Our prayers are with you always.

Wonderful memories of a courageous woman, a fearless leader, role model and friend to children. When I was a beginning teacher in CMS, she called my home one morning just after 6 am. Once I got over the shock when she said, "This is Kat Crosby", I begain to wonder, what in the world had I done wrong? She called to encourage me, to tell me that she knew what a great job I was doing, and to let me know that she was watching me. Talk about "Applied Anxiety" and motivation to keep on doing the very best I could! Thanks be to God for a life well lived.
November 20, 2012
What a wonderful woman! I spent many years getting to know Mrs. Crosby since I came to JCSU in 1990 and then fellowshipping with her years later at church. She was a mentor and a friend. May her family be blessed with her memories and the legacy she has left.
November 20, 2012
A remarkable woman. I was a student at Billingsville Elementary. I remember how we all looked up to her. She also did an outstanding Double Dutch! She will be missed. Healing to the family.

The Crosby family has a strong legacy of educational leadership in both SC and NC. As a native of Winnsboro and 3rd generation alumni of NC A&T University, my family has benefited greatly from their influence and work in the community on behalf of students. May God Bless this family in their time of bereavement.

Joe and Kathy:
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. Ms Kat was a dear friend of my grandparents (James and Inez Ellis) and lived on their street (Druid Circle) for many many years during which they shared a great friendship. My grandmother and I would walk down the street to the Crosby home and there my grandma would spend their time on Saturdays 'catching up' and laughing heartily as they discussed the latest news in the Druid Hills Community and shared joys of family life and their jobs in CMS (my grandma was a librarian at Kennedy Jr. High). Ms. Kat was such an intelligent woman and a wonderful bright light in our community. I admired and respected her greatly not only for being such a fabulous neighbor and friend to our family but also for the activist she was, the integrity she had and the blessing she was to Charlotte and the CMS community. Most certainly, Ms. Kat left a HUGE legacy in Charlotte. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. Indeed, this wonderful woman of greatness will be greatly missed by us all.

To the Crosby Family, May GOD watch over all of you and keep you in a special way. Your mother was as big as the Queen of England here in Charlotte when it came to paving away for children in CMS.
November 20, 2012
Mrs. Crosby was my second grade teacher at Lincoln Heights and a wonderful, funny and loving teacher she was. I can remember being the "teacher's pet" but I also remember her scare tactics for the entire class if even one student misbehaved. She loved us all. Even growing up and becoming an adult, the times that I saw her, she never forgot who I was and funny things that happened in our classroom. She was a true educator, mentor, mother to all, and friend. She will be missed. Joe and Kathy, hold tight to the memories because there is no loss like the loss of your mother.
November 20, 2012
Thank you so much Mrs. Crosby for loving and caring for us as if we were your own! As a student in Mrs. Crosby's last 1st grade class at Lincoln Heights, I have many fond memories and lessons learned. One quote from her that sticks out in my mind is "It's not what you don't do, it's what you do do." Needless to say, a lot of snickers were had from a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds.

Thank you for your continuous encouragement when we would happen to cross paths from time to time over the years. You still remembered us all in that class and would share a memory or two. You will be missed and know that you were my favorite teacher!

To the family of such a wonderful lady, may the Lord provide you with the comfort that only He can. Bask upon all of your wonderful memories! I'm certain it is well with Her soul!

Hi Kathy and Joe,

I will always remember the weekend that I spent with your Mother and Father while I was on an assignment at Fort Bragg. This visit was back in 1992 and I can still remember to this day every detail of the vist. We had such a wondeful time. I became there offical driver of the big black Mercedes Benz. We went everywhere over that weekend to include a trip to South Carolina to have Sunday Dinner with Aunt Ruth. I could go on forever, but I will close by saying it was a wonderful experience and your Mother was a beautiful, loving, caring and classy lady. Stay strong and keep the faith.
