Forney was my partner at OC, friend, and colleague who set a high standard for all of us to aspire. A brilliant physician and surgeon whose advice I sought frequently. Just like our residents, I could always learn something from Forney Hutchinson even after many years in practice. We will miss you.

Hutch was a wonderful mentor, amazing surgeon, compassionate physician, hard teacher and beautiful person. Im glad to have trained under him, as I am confident I am a better surgeon because of him. I teach the current residents that they will never be as good as they could be since Hutch retired :). Ive never met a man so devoted to his work, yet so balanced in life. A role model is an understatement for sure. I am saddened that his life was cut short, but he surely fought hard, as we all knew he would. I am most grateful that we became friends over the years. His name comes up frequently in surgery and the staff light up. He is truly a legend and I am glad he touched my life. He lives on in so many dimensions and I will miss him greatly. I pray for Valeria and his 2 daughters.

I loved Hutch. Earning his trust and respect were critical to survive and ultimately excel in our residency program. My first couple years in practice when faced with a tough case, one of my first thoughts was always "what would Hutch do?" He was a true renaissance man as well. He is greatly missed but know the profound impact he had on his patients and those he trained.

I first met Forney in 1979 when I moved to Charlotte from New York as a graduate nurse at the Orthopedic Hospital of Charlotte. As a new nurse, I was intimidated by Forney and didn't know how to take him. Over the years I grew to love him as a friend and co-worker and always admired his surgical skill. He was very down to earth and never considered himself above anyone. So many good times, I will miss his friendship deeply. It was a long struggle and I am glad he is finally at peace.
