Mark Travis Newton YORK - Mark Travis Newton, 64, of York, SC and formerly of Charlotte, NC lost his battle with cancer August 31, 2013. He was born October 11, 1948, the fourth child of the late Frank C. Newton, Sr. and Helen Hoyle Newton of Charlotte. Mr. Newton is survived by two sons, Mark Christopher Newton of Goldsboro, NC, Jeffrey Hunt Newton and family of Monroe, NC; six siblings, Frank C. Newton, Jr., Nick Ogburn Newton, and Beth Newton Palmer of Charlotte, NC, Alan D. Newton of Longs, SC, Barbara Newton Walker of Waxhaw, NC and Becky Newton Allen of York, SC. Mr. Newton graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1966 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam war. For many years, Mr. Newton worked in the gaming industry in Oklahoma, Nevada and Mississippi. He traveled extensively and told wonderful stories regarding the people he met and the places he visited. A drop-in celebration of Mark's life will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 8, 2013 from 2 until 4 at The Hut in Pineville, NC.

I am sorry for your loss. I lived on Greenleaf and was close to Mark's brother Frank. I remember what a wonderful family the Newtons were. My prayers are with you.
