Michael Dee Thompson "Mike" CHARLOTTE - Mr. Thompson, 58, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, Friday, November 30th, 2012 in the Presbyterian Healthcenter in Charlotte, NC. He was born November 16, 1954 in Beaumont, Texas and graduated from the Clearfield Area High School in 1973. After graduation he served in the Air Force until 1977. He was married to Chyrell (Richardson) Thompson who survives in Charlotte. Mike was employed with Marhoff Construction in Charlotte as a Project Manager. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Josh Novak Thompson and his wife Rachel of Norfolk, VA; Brandi Ricks and her husband Sterling of Braselton, GA and Kyle Thompson of Charlotte, NC and 4 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Verna J. Thompson of Clearfield; 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Rick Thompson and his wife Melissa of The Colony, TX, Vicki Jo Lansberry and her husband David of West Decatur, Joni Forman and her husband Michael of Springfield VA., Mark A. Thompson of Indiana, PA and Naples FL, and Mary Kay Thomas and her husband Bill of Clearfield. Mike also leaves behind 11nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends. Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his father Richard S.Thompson, his paternal grandparents Stanley and Mary Thompson, and his maternal grandparents Maurice "Dutch" and Olive Haney. Mike was a member of the Pub Runners motor cycle club with whom he enjoyed motorcycle riding, playing spades on-line, was an avid Denver Broncos fan. Mike was known to cook the best Barbeque ribs and lasagna in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Mike was a fun loving individual and was always a joy to be around. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 8th at the VFW, 8520 Mt. Holly Road, Paw Creek, North Carolina 28130 from 3 pm to 5 pm. A memorial service will be held at the Clearfield Alliance Church, Saturday, December 22nd at 3:00 pm The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to your local Salvation Army, Tots for Tots, or the American Cancer Society. Mike was my brother-in-law for 35 years, he was more like a brother to me than a brother-in-law. Mike was always fun to be around. We enjoyed riding motorcycles with him when he as in Clearfield. I will miss him dearly!
