Buddy Greene ROCK HILL - Howard Franklin "Buddy" Greene, Sr., 85, of Rock Hill passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Westminster Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, August 30, 2013 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel with Reverend Jerry Devinney officiating. Interment will follow in Laurelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 pm on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Mr. Greene was a native of Rock Hill, SC and the son of the late Toy Howard Greene and Ruby Faulkenberry Greene. He was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and a United States Army veteran who served as a Supply Sergeant during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Rock Hill Elks Club and Moose Lodge. Mr. Greene was a member of Northside Baptist Church and formerly served as a deacon and on various church committees. He worked for the United States Postal Service for several years before joining his father, Toy and brother, Donald in 1964 in the family business, Greene Funeral Home. Mr. Greene loved people and helping people and was vital in the growth of Greene Funeral Home. He proudly saw his family's business grow to a second location in 2000 when Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel was opened. Until his health declined in 2011, Mr. Greene was a visible part of Greene Funeral Home. He believed in living the message that he instilled in his staff, to treat families as if they were your own. Mr. Greene is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Doris Holladay Greene; his son, Howard Franklin Greene, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Rock Hill; his two daughters, Diana Greene Poore and her fiance, David Burrage of Acworth, GA; Susan Greene Fischer and her husband, Al of Rock Hill; his brother, Donald B. Greene and his wife, Debbie of Catawba, SC; his sister, Sue G. Walters of Lesslie; two grandchildren, Mary Poore Bryant and her husband, Chris of Kingston, GA; and James Allen "Jay" Fischer, III of Rock Hill; two great-grandchildren, Colton Ernest Bryant and Lucy Claire Bryant; and two step-grandchildren, Mary Beth Arthur and Lindsey Arthur. Mr. Greene is also survived by the staff of Greene Funeral Home, whom he loved and loved him very much.
