Dear Brave SGT Christopher Abeyta,

The willow bends on God's green Earth, but its spirit is left intact. Sometimes it breaks and we mourn for something which was so fine. But in its loss we remember days spent in its shadow, sheltered from the hot summer sun. Though our time with you on this same Earth is now broken, those closest to you will always remember the days when you were young and strong and gave them the same comfort and memories as the willow which was so fine. Sleep well brave son of a grateful nation. May God always cradle you in His arms.

To thw family of Sgt, Abeyta I am sorry for your loss. I am sorry for our Nation's loss of another brave hero.Your wish that memorials be made to Spc Cain's family speaks in volumes about you and your son. Your son is buried in the same cemetery as my parents. I lost my Dad in Nov so I think your son is close by. Please get in touch with me I would love to honor your son when I visit my Dad. I think I met you at Cantigny in a troop support concert.I keep you and yours in my prayers. Your son will not be forgotten.

To the Abeyta family,

There are never simple explanations or answers when a parent outlives a child, even if the "child" is an adult, as your son was.

And yet his choice to wear such a clearly identifiable uniform to work every day will never be forgotten, nor will his and your sacrifice be ignored or dismissed by those who never had and never will wear such a uniform, such as myself.

May God bless your family and friends with strength during this time of sorrow!
