My Dad was friends with Dale dating back to 50's. I remember him coming to our house in Lansing,MI when he was here to buy semi's for his horse trailers. He stayed at our house for several nights, and I remember what a big deal it was for everyone in Lansing. Also remember visiting him at his ranch "Haymaker Farms" in Oklahoma, and stayed at his house in California with his wife Lou and daughter Rochelle around 1960. Dale was sponsered by Buick Motor Division and my Dad was able to buy some of the specially made cars for him. I remember when we went out to the ranch to visit and my older brother who was into horses, was asked if he would like to go for a ride, I was more of the mechanical type, and when he asked me what I wanted to do I pointed to a big garden tractor and said I wanted to drive that instead of riding a horse. He and my Dad looked at each other and started laughing, but he let me drive it anyway.Remember him as a bigger than life figure. R.I.P.

My condolences to all of Dale's family. I grew up watching his movies. I have always been a great fan of westerns. I was later blessed to own a former race horse which I was told belonged to Mr. Robertson. The horse's name was "Plum Foolish". He was a wonderful horse and oh, did he love to RUN!! I always wanted to contact Mr. Robertson and ask if I could have a picture of "Plum" in the winners circle. Unfortunately, I never did that.
Again, my deepest sympathy to his family.

Rest in peace, Sir. Dale endorsed my book POW/MIA; America's Missing Men, and we talked many times on the phone about my Veterans Appreciation Banquet. He was a true and Patriotic All-American...

Mr. Robertson built Insbrook Village condominiums in my home town Ruidoso, N.M. He also had a beautiful home not that over looked the old airport. My sister would come home from school and saddle up and rider her horse up through the open fields up past the airport in the evenings. One evening I saw Mr. Robertson's vehicle coming down the driveway and he was leading my sisters horse by holding the reigns out the window my father and I went out to meet him and I took the reigns and he got out of the rig and my sister was sitting in the back dirty with a bump on her head. She had been bucked off and he had seen it happen went out caught the horse and gathered my sister up and brought em home. He stayed for dinner, for a few years he would come down and saddle up and ride with my sister from time to time, and always eat dinner when they came back. Great man, great voice, great memories. Gods speed Mr. Robertson
