I remember!

Mr. Lindsey and My Dad Played footbal together at Walker County High. Dad always talked about and listened to stuff about Sappo (to this day, don't know if he existed but assume so).

Dad said George was always cutting up in school. I guess that got him where he ended up, just plain funny! Loved growing up with the whole Mayberry gang especially "Goob". Him knowing Dad made him especially close (in my heart).

We went to George's home a long time ago in California to visit him. We were all excited to meet a star. Turned out he was just a regular guy, a good man. He offered us drinks (beleive I accepted an Orange soda) but I was scared to death as Dad always told us not to ask for anything. Anyway, it was good soda!

Thanks for that time George (and Dad, and Mom). I will never forget, it meant a lot.

Will not forget George Lindsey as, Dad probably tackled him at the Gate to heaven and Mom was probably laughing as they were rolling through the clouds.

We love you George and the Lindsey Family,
A Son of Arthur E. Hinton Jr.

The Mayberry chapter of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club sends its very deepest heartfelt condolences. We always enjoyed visiting with you. It was the highlight of our year. You made us smile with your humor. Every time I see somebody building a car in a courthouse, I'll always think of you.

I was saddened when I read of George Lindsey's passing. "Goober" was a part of my generation's childhood and a simpler, more innocent era.
