I was fortunate to have seen Van Cliburn perform at the New Years Eve performance in the convention center in Fort Worth. He played Tchaikovsky's Concerto #1 and Rachmaninoff's Concerto #2. I have heard winners of the Cliburn competition play Tcahikovsky, but NO ONE could play it like Van. He was the greatest concert pianist of our time. I thank you Van for the wonderful music you gave me and the world. Shalom! Rest in Peace.

Listening to you play the Emperor on WRR. One always knows when it is your unmistakeable style. So many memories, too few words. Now you are one of "those we love but see no longer." Rest in Peace.

As a young child living in Kilgore Texas my father took me to a Van Cliburn concert. I do not remember many details EXCEPT for the unbelievably beautiful and wonderful sounds coming from the stage. As soon as he started playing I was totally mesmerized, and barely took a breath until the concert was over. Thirty years later I had the opportunity to hear him play again and when the music started it was like I was that young child again, sitting with my father in the concert hall, mesmerized by the beauty of the music coming from the stage, and barely breathing until the end of the concert. I extend my everlasting thanks to Mr. Cliburn for my memories; and I extend my thoughts and prayers to the family.

My sympathy to the family and the music world. An International Pianist that gave beautiful music to the world!
