We will miss you!
October 4, 2017
Those we love do not go away,
They walk beside us every day
Unseen, unheard, but always near
Still loved, still missed and very dear

Fr. Vincent Burke was very much a part of the Attipoe family in Ghana in the early 70s largely due to the fact that our Mom, the Late Mrs. Victoria Attipoe was a mother to practically every SVD priest that landed in Accra.

We recall beautiful and timeless memories of Sundays back then mass in the morning, Labadi beach where he taught us to swim, then a stop at the house at Aquinas Secondary school for dinner and ice cream before dropping us off at home.

We were happy and blessed to reconnect with him again in the US in 2014. We recalled with nostalgia those memorable and fun times in Ghana, his favorite fufu and peanut butter soup, specially prepared by Mama Vic and his visits to the Adabraka house. We planned to get together for a fufu party and have him meet our young ones, but alas, that did not materialize! Little did we realize our meeting was also a fond farewell!

We are immensely grateful to God for the gift of Fr. Burke to the Attipoe family. His love was genuine, deep and palpable and he was truly one of Gods noblest representatives on earth. We know he would be with us today if heaven was not so far away.

Uncle Vin, as we fondly called him, touched our lives and that of so many other young people as a Priest, Father, Benefactor, Educator, Mentor and Friend.

"Uncle Vin", we will miss your smile, your vivacious and warm personality and above all your counsel.

Rest peacefully in the Lord, whom you loved and served till the very end. May the soil lie gently on you and may God give you peace until we meet again on that beautiful shore!

Requiescat in pace.

Lovingly submitted,

The Attipoes, Gerard, Anthony, Angela and Baby
