Carl Monaco Obituary
Carl D. Monaco, Beloved husband of Virginia (nee Giangreco) Monaco; loving father of Johnny Monaco and Deana (Mark) Panther; cherished Papa of Samantha; dear brother of Josephine and Margaret Monaco and the late Antoinette Hutchinson; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Carl was a long time Barber in the Galewood and Elmwood Park area. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3-9 PM at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, Sciaraffa Funeral Directors, 450 W. Lake Street (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road), Roselle, 60172. Funeral Wednesday, beginning with Visitation from 9-10 AM at St. Cecilia Church, 700 S. Meier Road, Mt. There isn't a day I don't miss Carl. He came to visit my barbershop even after leaving and always made me smile. I miss his friendship, his kindness and wisdom. There will never be a person like Carl. He always told me stories of his amazing family, friends and work life. Miss you and Virginia.

Let me tell you, Carl was in a class all by himself, both as a person and a barber. I'm a little late finding out about this, as I live in Berwyn -- Elmwood Park became too far to go for a haircut, but I've never gotten as good a haircut since! I always looked forward to seeing Carl every time I went. Thank you, Carl. We will cross paths again.

I just learned of Carl's passing, calling the shop to make an appointment. Carl was my friend and barber for 40 years. I know I share a sense of grievous loss with his many loyal customers. I offer his family my deepest condolences. Carl lived life joyfully, a wonderful example for us all.

I was shocked and deeply grieved to hear about Carl's passing when I called to make an appointment for my bi-monthly haircut. I have been a friend (customer) of his for 40 years, plus. I regret that he and Virginia were never able to take up my offer for a stay at my townhouse in Jupiter, FL. May God bless his family in this time of sorrow.

Like many, I am truly devastated by the loss of Carl. i spoke to him in early May when I got my haircut and he was undergoing some tests. My visits to the barber shop on North Ave, Oak Park Ave and Grand Ave were as much social as business. I went to Carl for 35 years. Truly terrible news. I was so sorry to hear of Carl's passing. He was a great guy. I went to him for 25 years, and he also cut my boys' hair since they were born. After talking one day we figured out my dad went to Steinmetz with Carl, so he would go to the shop also. I will miss him.

My name is Rich Schak, a retired Chicago Police Sergeant and I just heard about the passing of my friend when I went by the shop. He was a great person to be around, he cut my dad's hair and each of my nine children's hair at least once, including my two daughters for their first little trim. Quite a great guy, I will always remember sitting at The Park Avenue shop on Oak Park Avenue sitting around with all the neighborhood characters! We lost another good one!
