Remembering today the 4 soldiers lost and remembering Chris. He will be remembered. My heartfelt prayers continue to go out to all the families.

To the Abeyta family,

There are never simple explanations or answers when a parent outlives a child, even if the "child" is an adult, as your son was.

And yet his choice to wear such a clearly identifiable uniform to work every day will never be forgotten, nor will his and your sacrifice be ignored or dismissed by those who never had and never will wear such a uniform, such as myself.

May God bless your family and friends with strength during this time of sorrow!

To the family and friends of Sgt. Christopher Abeyta, I wish to add my condolences for the loss of Sgt. Christopher. I wish to invite you family and friends to join us at Jesse Brown VA in Chicago on June 2nd, 2009, when we will remember Christopher and our other fallen heroes and veterans. We would be honored to have you join us. God Bless You. Lynne O'Donnell, RN, MSN, ANP

To the Abeyta family,

I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Christophers' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
