Eddie was one of my real heroes. He hired me on his band in Chicago years ago not knowing if I could play or not but took a chance on me. That was the start of a great relationship that lasted into his Pinehurst years. He taught me so much in conversations alone. He knew 1,000 tunes. I learned arranging tips from him. I've thought of him quite often since seeing him last (2010) and that won't stop. Thanks, Eddie. Keep swingin'.

meminisse juvabit! It has been a joy to have known you. That line from my '57 Jesuit prep school year book has special poignancy for Eddie. I met him in Pinehurst where he extended me the privilege of playing sax in his Benny Goodman Legacy Orchestra...pure magic as he played lyrical solo after solo. We were sympatico, he said. I miss him badly already and will never forget him.

Eddie, you are already missed! What an distinguished life you lived, you did it right. All the gang at Exmoor have you in their thoughts and you have many, many friends there. I will miss our conversations and as my great uncle Jim said always assoicate yourself with smarter people, I followed his advice with you. Keep swinging man, you were and are the best.
